Report on: ‘The 5th Central European Conference - Chemistry Towards Biology’

The ‘The 5th Central European Conference - Chemistry Towards Biology’ was held in Primošten, Croatia, 8-11 September, 2010. The programme and details are available at the workshop’s website: http://spider.irb.hr/ctb2010.

Altogether 124 scientists participated in the meeting. Besides participants from the central European countries: Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Italy, Hungary, Slovenia and Croatia there were scientists from SAD, Greece and Russia. The most numerous were scientists from Hungary (39).

The scientific conference consisted of 31 lectures, of which 6 plenary and 12 invited invited lectures, and more than 80 poster presentations. Among three awards for the best poster, two got young Hungarian scientists and one Austrian.

The last day of the conference the Steering Committee meeting was held. At the meeting Steering Committee agreed that we should continue with the conferences and Italy was chosen as host for the next conference. From the discussions of the Steering Committee as well as the participants, the meeting was considered to be very successful from both scientific and social aspects.
